Healing brush tool
(looks like a bandage)
The healing brush tool is very similar to the cloning tool but instead of just reproducing pixels from one area onto another it samples the pixels to be cloned and blends them into the new area keeping the integrity of the original pixel area.
Use this tool following the same steps as the Clone Tool.
Alt+click to sample the area
Move to the area you want to repair.
Move your brush back and forth, as you let go off the mouse you will see the result.
The Patch Tool will give you similar results as the Healing Brush Tool
It will sample pixels from a good image area and put them into the area you selected for repair-but it will keep the integrity of the original sample area.
Color Replacement Tool
The color replacement tool works similar to the 2 previous tools in that it replaces pixels from a selected area but also keeps the integrity of the original area.
This means it is a good tool for red-eye reduction because it allows you to color in an area while keeping the tonal range of shadow to highlight.
For ex. with red-eye reduction
Select the color replacement tool
Alt click on an area of the eye that maintains the original color-usually the outside
Left go of the alt and start painting
You can paint over the white areas and they will stay white.
Pattern Stamp Tool
If you want to create your own pattern by cloning, you can with the pattern stamp tool.
